Job summary

Boardroom Appointments is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I in Gqeberha, South Africa. The role focuses on developing complex system components, implementing CI/CD practices, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to finalize requirements.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Engineering/CS or equivalent experience, 4 years of software engineering, and familiarity with Agile/Waterfall methodologies, testing approaches, and data storage/subsystems. Strong communication is required.

Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12) is a prerequisite.
• BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required.
• Knowledge of continuous Software delivery.
• Intermediate knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
• Intermediate proficiency with data manipulation language and optimization techniques.
• Intermediate understanding of data modelling principles (normalized/dimensional).
• Knowledge of multiple data storage subsystems.

Responsibilities

• Interface with other technical personnel to finalize requirements.
• Write and review detailed specifications for complex system components.
• Complete complex bug fixes.
• Implement and guide continuous integration, delivery, and deployment practices.
• Identify operational requirements for logging, instrumentation and alerting; work with Senior II to meet them.
• Ensure development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews are followed.
• Work with development team to translate complex requirements into software designs.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Agile, Waterfall environments.
