Job summary

DigiOutsource in Cape Town is seeking a senior software engineer to design, develop and deploy robust .NET solutions. You will collaborate with front-end teams, architects and QA to deliver scalable services and APIs that power gaming platforms.

You will mentor juniors, review code, and drive best practices in CI/CD, testing and cloud deployment. Expect a dynamic environment with strong emphasis on quality and security.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in full software development life cycle.
• Strong proficiency in OOP with C# and .NET framework.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Proficiency with SQL Server and writing efficient queries.
• Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker) and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
• Ability to mentor and transfer knowledge to the team.

Responsibilities

Why we need you

As a senior software engineer, you will focus on designing and developing robust, scalable, and efficient software solutions on the .NET (C#) framework. You will be a key contributor to custom software solutions, working closely with front‑end engineers and other team members to deliver seamless integrations and high‑quality products. You will also mentor junior developers, review code, and provide guidance to support their growth.

What you’ll be doing

Engineering

• Build, maintain, enhance and deploy software according to company standards and best practices.
• Unit‑test all software artifacts.
• Maintain current systems and develop new systems using the latest technologies.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architects, Software Engineers, Quality Engineers, and Product Managers in developing, testing, and deploying software components.
• Provide second/third line support to IT for software deployed into the company ecosystem.
• Analyse and resolve complex and high‑impact production issues where required.
• Monitor system performance and ensure all SLAs are met.

Technical Leadership

• Manage the implementation of technical solutions.
• Transfer business and technical knowledge to the greater team.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring of junior engineers.
• Focus on the integrity of systems regarding quality, stability, and scalability.
• Contribute expertise in design, development, and implementation of platforms, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical requirements.

Support to Software Engineering Lead

• Assist in code reviews.
• Assist in coordinating Pair Programming.
• Assist in implementing best practices, coding standards, and relevant methodologies.

Documentation

• Maintain comprehensive documentation of system architecture, processes, and workflows for transparency and future reference.

Essential skills you’ll bring to the table

• Minimum of 7 years’ practical experience in the full software development life cycle.
• Solid understanding of Software Engineering design patterns and/or methodologies.
• Strong proficiency in OOP principles, with preference for experience in C# and the .NET framework.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Proficiency with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server) and writing efficient queries.
• Hands‑on experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code.
• Understanding of Software Testing fundamentals.
• Ability to mentor and transfer knowledge to the greater team.
• Passion for technology and staying current with industry trends.
• Exceptional attention to detail and high standards of quality.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and priorities.
• Experience mentoring or coaching junior developers.
• Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to estimate effort accurately and manage time and delivery.

Desirable skills you’ve got up your sleeve

• Previous experience in the online gaming or casino industry.
• Experience with Test‑Driven Development (TDD) and writing unit/integration tests.
• Familiarity with container orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB) and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of in‑memory datastores (e.g., Redis or Valkey).
• Experience with messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Experience leading technical discussions and code reviews.
• Experience as part of an Agile software engineering team.
• Understanding of security principles.
• Knowledge of JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Angular, Vue, React).
• Computer Science related degree, diploma, or similar qualification.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a senior software engineer/developer role.
