Interwaste, a leader in waste management solutions across Southern Africa, is seeking a seasoned Senior Site Supervisor (FTC) to join our team at the Klinkerstene Landfill. Role Overview

The position will contribute to the effective operation of the Landfill aligned to the business objectives of the business. This position provides leadership, direction and support to the Landfill and ETP Department by assisting team members in their duties, as required, to meet service expectations, departmental goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Operations
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in landfill operations.
  • Establish productivity goals where needed; ensure adherence to operating standards; and manage labour hours and disposal expenses per established and agreed plans.
  • Planning access roads, cell sizes, cell slopes, drainage, wet cell, waste depositing.
  • Ensure landfill operations advance according to the operational plan.
  • Execute other operational plans to help achieve or exceed the division’s budgeted goals.
  • Able to follow and direct established landfill operations procedures pertaining to erosion control measures within the boundary of waste and borrow areas.
  • Determine and direct solid waste and daily cover placement efficiently.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety regulations on the landfill for employees and users.
  • Reports defective or damaged equipment to the appropriate authority for the arrangement of repairs.
  • Maintain necessary regulatory compliance records in all forms.
  • Plan and organize efficient utilization of plant compliment on site.
  • Ability to monitor the leachate control system, logic controllers, lift-stations and pumps.
  • Oversees regular inspections of equipment, facilities and all landfill operations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements governing the disposal of solid waste.

  • Adhere to the principles of an ethical, honest, transparent, fair work environment.
  • Communicate in a professional manner.
  • Compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and affiliated professional standards.
  • Promote the Code of Ethics (Integrity, Objectivity, Confidentiality and Competence).
  • To be responsible for maintaining discipline by using the Company's disciplinary code and procedures, as well as attending to grievances.
Desired Experience & Qualification
  • 3 - 5 Years supervisory experience in a Waste Management Environment
  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Strong supervisory experience in a landfill, environmental environment
  • Excellent proficiency ability in Microsoft Office
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Own transport and flexibility to travel
