Job summary

Hire Resolve is seeking an SHER Manager for Oudtshoorn with strong experience in high-risk industrial environments, including ammonia refrigeration and FMCG food safety systems. The role focuses on proactive risk mitigation, OHSA compliance, and protecting workers in abattoir operations while maintaining production efficiency.

Responsibilities: lead HIRA, ensure Meat Safety Act and ISO 45001 compliance, manage ammonia and boiler risks, coordinate emergency responses, and drive safety training

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level qualification in health and safety or related field.
• 5–8 years of progressive health and safety experience, with management exposure in abattoirs or meat processing.
• SAMTRAC or NEBOSH certification and ISO standard familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Lead facility-wide HIRA and develop preventive measures for high-risk zones.
• Ensure OHSA, COIDA, Meat Safety Act and ISO 45001/14001 compliance.
• Oversee risk management for ammonia systems and boiler units.
• Drive safety training, toolbox talks and crisis-management activities.
• Report near-misses and injuries to management and regulators.
