Job description

The SAMRC is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and motivated Scientist to play an active role in non-communicable disease and wastewater-based epidemiology research within the Biomedical Research and Innovation Platform (BRIP).

The focus of the position will include establishing advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) capacity within BRIP to address the increasing complexity of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension, and to support wastewater-based epidemiology initiatives.

The Scientist will be responsible for developing and implementing computational models and analytical frameworks to integrate and interpret multi-omics, clinical, and lifestyle data.

In addition, the Scientist will be expected to mentor and train postgraduate students and staff, publish research findings in international peer-reviewed journals, present at national and international conferences, and contribute to grant proposal development as a co-investigator.
