Job summary

The Senior Risk and Assurance Coordinator will lead the implementation of the departments WHS risk management and safety assurance programs which are applied under the DCCEEW safety management system.

In this role you will :
  • Drive the success of our risk management and safety assurance frameworks ensuring theyre always up-to-date and effective.
  • Lead auditing and reporting processes that keep our executive team informed and confident in our safety performance.
  • Empower staff through training and upskilling making safety second nature across the division.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and proactive safety practices.
  • Be a key source of expertise for work health and safety advice helping teams navigate policies and access the tools they need to work safely.
  • Conduct assurance activities identify gaps and guide corrective actions to keep standards high.
  • Deliver accurate timely insights on system performance and safety outcomes to leadership.
About You

Youre a proactive safety professional with a strong track record in implementing and maintaining work health and safety or safety assurance systems. You thrive on driving continuous improvement and have hands‑on experience in auditing training and developing robust processes that make a real impact.

Your toolkit includes :
  • Expert knowledge of WHS legislation and practical application plus familiarity with safety management standards like ISO 45001.
  • Auditing expertise from creating audit tools and schedules to conducting audits analysing findings and delivering clear actionable reports to senior leaders.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills enabling you to negotiate priorities and engage diverse teams effectively.
  • Analytical thinking and attention to detail ensuring accuracy in everything from risk assessments to reporting.
  • Proven ability to write high-quality government documents including procedures reports and briefing notes with minimal supervision.
Essential Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety or related discipline and / or relevant experience
  • Current drivers licence and the ability to travel to client locations across NSW.
