Overview :
A leading infrastructure consulting firm is seeking a Senior Resident Engineer for a 12–18 month contract to oversee the rehabilitation of a major road project in Pretoria. The role requires significant site-based leadership , technical oversight of asphalt overlays , and management of night-time construction activities.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee the implementation of all on-site construction activities, with a focus on night work .
- Monitor and supervise asphalt overlay and localised patching works across the carriageway.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and technical teams to maintain smooth project delivery.
- Manage project timelines, construction methodologies, and material usage.
- Conduct regular site inspections, reporting, and documentation.
- Review and approve contractor submissions, including method statements and progress reports.
- Attend progress meetings and provide input on technical and operational matters.
- Monitor compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Mentor junior site staff and assist in resolving site-related technical challenges.

Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Civil Engineering (BSc / BTech)Professional Registration with ECSA (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng) – MandatoryExperience :
Minimum 10 years’ experience in road rehabilitation as a Senior Resident EngineerProven track record with asphalt overlay and patching techniquesPrevious experience with site-based, night-shift roadworks is essentialSkills & Competencies :
Strong understanding of civil engineering construction principlesTechnical expertise in road rehabilitation and materials (asphalt, stabilisation, etc.)Excellent planning, coordination, and leadership skillsProficiency in interpreting drawings and technical specificationsGood communication and stakeholder engagement skillsCommitment to safety and compliance with regulatory requirementsAbility to manage multiple site tasks and documentation effectivelyContract Specifics :
