Placements24 is seeking a Senior Research Associate to join a cell biology research team in Kimberley. You will conduct experiments to understand cellular mechanisms related to disease and help develop novel therapies, working hands-on in state-of-the-art laboratories.

This hybrid role balances in-lab work with remote contribution, supports data analysis, and requires strong collaboration with senior scientists and cross-functional teams to advance project goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related life science discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on laboratory experience in cell biology research, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Extensive experience with mammalian cell culture, aseptic techniques, and various cell-based assays.
• Proficiency in molecular biology techniques such as PCR, qPCR, DNA/RNA extraction, and protein analysis (Western blot, ELISA).
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a hybrid setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of cell biology experiments, including cell culture, transfection, gene editing (e.g., CRISPR), and Western blotting.
• Develop and optimize new experimental protocols and assays to investigate cellular processes and drug efficacy.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data, ensuring accuracy and reproducibility, and prepare detailed reports.
• Maintain meticulous laboratory notebooks and contribute to research documentation.
• Collaborate effectively with senior scientists and cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
