Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Research Scientist to join a pioneering energy research institution in a fully remote role. You will lead independent projects focused on next‑gen materials for solar cells, batteries, and catalysts for hydrogen production from your home office.

The role demands a PhD in energy materials and at least 6 years post‑doctoral experience, with a proven publication record and strong collaboration skills in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• PhD in energy materials or related field.
• Minimum 6 years post-PhD in renewable energy materials.
• Experience with synthesis, characterization, and performance evaluation of materials for solar cells, batteries, or fuel cells.
• Strong publication record and conference participation.
• Experience with computational modeling tools (DFT, MD).
• Excellent remote-work communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct theoretical and experimental research on novel materials for renewable energy applications (perovskites, organic photovoltaics, solid-state electrolytes, electrocatalysts).
• Design and synthesize advanced materials using state-of-the-art techniques (solution processing, thin-film deposition, nanomaterial synthesis).
• Characterize material properties using spectroscopy, microscopy, XRD, and electrochemical analysis.
• Model and simulate material performance to guide experiments and predict device efficiency.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners on joint research projects in materials science and energy tech.
• Disseminate findings via publications and international conferences.
• Mentor junior researchers and PhD students, fostering a productive remote research environment.
• Contribute to grant writing and proposal development for renewable energy materials initiatives.
