Job summary

Media24 Technology in Cape Town/Randburg is seeking a senior software engineer specializing in React and React Native to help grow our mobile app suite. You will work closely with Product Managers and UX Designers to deliver robust, user‑centred solutions and contribute to SDLC improvements.

Qualifications

• Honours degree in software engineering (Masters preferred).
• 5+ years of development experience, including 3+ years with React or React Native.
• Strong fundamentals of programming and system design.
• Experience with React Native is preferred.
• Team collaboration across Product, UX and QA.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to mobile app suite growth and quality code.
• Perform peer reviews and ensure coding standards.
• Collaborate with PMs and UX designers to deliver user-centred solutions.
• Research best practices and implement proof of concepts.
• Write unit tests and documentation.
• Estimate development efforts.

What will you do?

• Work on and contribute to the growth of our suite of mobile applications
• Conduct peer reviews, ensuring strict adherence to team-agreed best practices and styles
• Contribute to collaborative team discussions to continually improve our codebase and SDLC
• Work closely with Product Managers and UX Designers to deliver sound technical solutions based on the needs of our users
• Research best practices to design solutions, and implement your proof of concept
• Write unit tests and documentation for your work
• Estimate on development efforts

What should you have?

• Relevant software engineering degree at Honours level (Masters preferred)
• 5+ years of development experience, with 3+ years in React or React Native.
• Exceptional grasp of the fundamentals of programming paradigms and solution design
• React or React-Native development experience is essential, with a preference for React-Native
• An understanding of User Interface Design and Visual Communication advantageous
• Versatile in being able to operate optimally in a small, fast-paced environment with increased amounts of responsibility and highly collaborative teams
• Strong communication skills across multi-disciplinary teams i.e. Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, QA Engineers and various stakeholders in the business
