Job summary

SearchApi is seeking a senior Ruby on Rails engineer to become the technical backbone of our product. You’ll own the hardest PRs, raise the bar for the codebase, and eventually lift technical load from the CEO.

This is a hands-on role with no management duties, designed for someone who ships production code across the entire product. We are a real-time SERP API provider with a bootstrapped, profitable team.

Qualifications

• Many years of Ruby on Rails experience in production systems.
• Proven track record shipping complex Rails apps and features.
• Stripe billing, subscriptions, and webhooks experience.
• Strong security awareness and secure coding practices.
• Ability to analyze performance with memory and query profiling.
• Excellent written communication and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Own the hardest PRs and lead complex feature work with senior judgment.
• Review peers' PRs, mentor through code reviews and raise code quality.
• Build enterprise features (SAML, SCIM, audit logs, permissions).
• Lead billing and payments work including Stripe integrations and usage-based billing.
• Create and iterate on product features via API playground and dashboard improvements.
• Develop in-house algorithms and optimizations for performance and scale.
• Work with native gems, bindings, and low-level code when needed.
• Ship frontend with TailwindCSS and maintain good UI/UX quality.
• Maintain strong security standards and review code with security in mind.
• Stay current with Rails/Ruby/AI developments and apply beneficial updates.
