Job summary

The-Recruiter is recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor in Cape Town to lead commercial and contractual management on school building projects. You will ensure costs are controlled and projects are delivered within budget across Cape Town’s education sector.

Ideal candidates hold a relevant Quantity Surveying degree, have 5+ years’ building sector experience, and are proficient with MS Excel and QS software. A SACQSP registration or candidacy is advantageous.

Qualifications

• BSc/BTech Quantity Surveying qualification required.
• Minimum 5 years QS experience in building construction.
• Experience on school/education, commercial or public-sector projects advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of contracts and commercial procedures.
• Experience managing subcontractors and project costs.
• Proficient in MS Excel and QS software.

Responsibilities

• Control project costs from inception to completion.
• Prepare and manage BOQs, valuations, certificates and final accounts.
• Monitor budgets, expenditure and cash flow.
• Handle variations, claims and contractual matters.
• Measure and value construction work completed.
• Procure subcontractors and negotiate commercial terms.
• Manage subcontractor accounts and payments.
• Prepare monthly cost reports and forecasts.
• Identify commercial risks and apply cost-control measures.
• Collaborate with Project Manager and site team.
• Maintain accurate commercial documentation.
