Placements24 is seeking a meticulous and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead cost management on major infrastructure projects in Durban. You will oversee costs from initial estimates through final accounting, ensuring financial discipline and contractual compliance.

The ideal candidate holds a degree in Quantity Surveying, has 6+ years’ infrastructure experience, and is proficient with FIDIC and cost-estimating software.

Qualificações

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or Cost Management.
• At least 6 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with infrastructure exposure.
• Proficient in cost estimating software and FIDIC contracts.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Professional registration with SACQSP is highly advantageous.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare cost estimates, BOQs, and tender documents for infrastructure projects.

About the Role

Our client requires a meticulous and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team overseeing major infrastructure projects in Durban . This role is critical for managing all costs relating to construction projects, from initial calculations and feasibility studies to final accounting. You will ensure that projects are completed within budget, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and contractual compliance. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and a deep understanding of contract administration in the infrastructure sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documents for infrastructure projects.
• Manage project budgets, track expenses, and control costs throughout the project lifecycle.
• Negotiate with contractors and suppliers to secure favorable terms and pricing.
• Administer construction contracts, including valuations, variations, and final account settlement.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress, identify potential cost overruns, and advise on mitigation strategies.
• Provide expert advice on cost-saving measures and value engineering opportunities.

Requirements

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with significant exposure to infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in cost estimating software and standard forms of contract (e.g., FIDIC).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Professional registration with a relevant body (e.g., SACQSP) is highly advantageous.
