Role Purpose

Role PurposeThe Senior Quantity Surveyor (SQS) plays a pivotal leadership and commercial management role, ensuring the successful financial and contractual delivery of multiple high‑value construction projects (R1 billion+). This includes overseeing cost control, contract administration, risk management, and commercial forecasting across both building and civil engineering sectors.The Senior QS will also mentor, coach, and lead junior and intermediate quantity surveyors, ensuring a high‑performing commercial team aligned with company standards and project objectives.

Minimum Academic Qualifications

Tertiary Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field.

Experience Requirements

7+ years of technical quantity surveying experience in large‑scale building and / or civil engineering projects. 2+ years of managerial or leadership experience, including mentoring and developing junior Quantity Surveyors. Proven track record of managing the commercial function across multiple high‑value projects (R1 billion+) simultaneously. Professional RegistrationMembership with ASAQS and / or MBA. Registration with the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP) preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of multiple large‑scale projects concurrently, from inception through to final account.
• Mentor, guide, and develop junior and intermediate Quantity Surveyors, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
• Oversee cost planning, procurement strategy, tendering, contract administration, and final accounts.
• Liaise closely with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure commercial objectives are met and relationships are maintained.
• Provide strategic input into project planning and execution to optimize commercial performance.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
