Placements24 invites a Senior Backend Developer to join a fintech client in Klerksdorp, North West. You will architect server-side logic, manage databases, and integrate APIs, with a focus on scalable, secure systems.

You will mentor juniors, drive technical strategy, and collaborate across product teams in a hybrid office/remote setting. The role targets senior-level expertise in Python and Django within financial tech.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years backend development with Python/Django.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs.
• Relational database design/management (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Experience with asynchronous programming and Celery.
• Proficiency with Git.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
• Strong testing and code-review practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Hybrid work environment experience.
• Fintech sector or Klerksdorp/North West region is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust back-end services using Python and Django.
• Build and manage efficient, reusable, and reliable Python code.
• Implement data storage solutions (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL if needed.
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs for frontend-backend communication.
• Collaborate with frontend, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver features.
• Write unit and integration tests to ensure quality.
• Optimize applications for speed, scalability, and security.
• Participate in code reviews and uphold coding standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex backend issues and bottlenecks.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technology selection.
• Stay updated on Python, Django, and related tech.
