Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans to identify and secure optimal suppliers for all company needs, focusing on cost, quality, and delivery.
• Lead negotiations with suppliers to achieve favorable terms, pricing, and service level agreements.
• Manage and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers, conducting regular performance reviews and fostering long-term partnerships.
• Oversee the entire procurement process, from requisition and tendering to contract award and order fulfillment.
• Conduct market research and analysis to stay abreast of industry trends, pricing, and new supplier capabilities.
• Implement and monitor procurement policies and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement within the purchasing function.
• Collaborate with other departments to understand their procurement needs and ensure timely supply of goods and services.
• Manage inventory levels and supplier lead times to prevent stockouts and minimize holding costs.
• Mentor and develop junior members of the purchasing team.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A Master's degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CIPS) is advantageous.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in purchasing, procurement, or strategic sourcing, with at least 3 years in a management or supervisory capacity.
• Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing strategic sourcing initiatives and achieving significant cost savings.
• Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of contract law and supplier relationship management.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
• Experience in the Western Cape region or similar industrial markets is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
