A leading financial services provider in Johannesburg seeks a Senior Project Manager to oversee complex projects in Digital banking. The role requires a minimum of 8 years' experience with strong skills in project management methodologies such as Agile or SAFe. You will ensure projects are completed on time and within budget while managing stakeholder relationships. A Bachelor's degree and relevant professional accreditation are preferred.

Job Title: Senior Project Manager

Term: 12 months

Location: Johannesburg, South Africa

Reports to: TBC

PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT

Responsible for management of moderate to highly complex programmes consisting of multiple related projects. Oversee major projects, providing strategic context, direction and leadership to the teams involved. Monitor project execution plans, resource deployment and overall coordination efforts to ensure projects are completed on schedule and to budget. Your responsibilities include components of resource management, finance management, quality management and control management.

Core Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Management of projects, typically (but not exclusively) involving the development and implementation of business processes to meet
  • Recognise the various business needs, acquiring and utilising the necessary resources and skills, within agreed parameters of cost, timescales and quality
  • Apply the highest standards in project and programme governance and management and apply this consistently in initiating, planning, executing, and closing of projects whilst effectively manage the full lifecycle of the project
  • The coordination of relationships with and between key stakeholders, during the design, management and implementation of business change
  • Listen and support teams in problem identification and decision-making
Knowledge and Experience
  • At least 8 years experience in implementing and working on complex projects in Digital banking and Banking Schemes Management
  • Previous project management and change management skills and expertise
  • Experience of managing activity across the whole of a project lifecycle, using current technology, structured methods and a quality process (e.g. PMP method, prince2, etc.)
  • Exposure to governance, control and risk management
  • The ability to negotiate influence at senior level
Mandatory Skills
  • Excellent direct knowledge of project management methodologies (SAFe, Agile, Scrum)
  • Project management experience gained in a complex financial service environment, Banking preferable
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Skills
  • Bachelors degree (NQF 7) in project management or commerce
  • Appropriate professional accreditation in programme and or project management (Agile, prince2, PMBOK)
