AECOM is seeking a Senior Project Manager to be based in South Africa’s Enterprise Capabilities office in Cape Town. The role supports local and global teams with a flexible hybrid work arrangement.

Job Overview

The Senior Project Manager undertakes full day‑to‑day project management on complex and smaller challenging projects, leading project teams, driving technical excellence, and maintaining client relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Uphold technical leadership for smaller project teams.
  • Technically lead groups of Project Managers and technical teams to deliver within scope, budget, time and quality.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Make day‑to‑day decisions for project teams.
  • Mentor technical leadership talent, ensuring discipline skills remain current and industry‑relevant.
  • Apply diverse knowledge of Project Management principles and practices.
  • Resolve complex technical problems and act as the go‑to person on specific technical issues.
  • Perform quality reviews and serve as Lead Verifier on projects.
  • Support digital transformation strategy and implementation.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients to identify pre‑released opportunities.
  • Present to clients, senior leadership and other project stakeholders.
  • Ensure interdisciplinary coordination within assigned teams.
Key Qualifications
  • Honours degree in built environment field of study with a minimum of 8 years post‑graduate experience.
  • B‑Tech degree in built environment field of study with a minimum of 9 years post‑graduate experience.
  • National Higher Diploma in built environment field of study with a minimum of 10 years post‑graduate experience.
  • National Diploma in built environment field of study with a minimum of 11 years post‑graduate experience.
  • Tertiary qualification in Project Management related field (e.g., procurement, quantity surveying, engineering, architecture, planning, contracting) with a minimum of 9 years post‑graduate experience.
  • Data Centre experience is highly advantageous.
  • Professional registration required: Registration as Pr.CPM with SACPCMP, or certification as PMP / PgMP / PfMP / PMI‑SP / PMI‑ACP with PMI.
