IntroductionThe position is at a well-established process plant engineering and manufacturing company based in Johannesburg, focused on international projects.

This is an exceptional opportunity to work on innovative modular process plant projects in a wide range of industries from Metallurgy to Oil & Gas.The Senior Project Engineer executes and manages engineering activities on process plant projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for the execution and management of conceptual, basic and detail engineering activities for projects in a process plant design and construction environment.

Maintaining communication between engineering departments, clients and vendors is essential.Key responsibilities include : Being accountable for key project activities, including scheduling, budget control and technical deliverables.The frequent opportunity to visit project sites, local and international.Fantastic exposure to many new technologies across multiple industries.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Dip, BTech, BEng or BSc Eng : Mechanical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering.ECSA registration desirable.PMP registration desirable.4 - 6 years experience in a similar role.Engineering design experience relating to process plants including studies, FEED, basic engineering and detailed engineering.Project and / or packages management experience (incl. budget control, scheduling and contracts administration).

Site installation and commissioning experience desirable.Knowledge of applicable mechanical engineering codes, policies, standards, and industry best practice.Professional project management principles.Standard types of contracts such as EPCM, EPC and LSTK.Standard forms of contract such as FIDIC, NEC.Proficient in MS Office - Proficient in Excel / Word / Outlook / Teams.Advanced use of MS Projects.Critical thinking and problem-solving ability.Good interpersonal and training skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Demonstrable organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills.Good project management and supervision skills.To be considered for this position, you should see yourself as a person who can offer a strong combination of technical expertise and project management skills.You must also demonstrate the following skills and experience : Excellent communication to explain technical specifics to peers, suppliers, contractors and clients.The ability to perform requirements analysis and translate a client's needs into a practical, cost-effective and safe design.Conceptual design skills to produce concepts for development by a team.Project management experience, including planning, scheduling, budgeting and contracts management.Understanding of manufacturing methods and procedures.Strong writing skills for the preparation of technical proposals, reports and design documentation.
