Job summary

A healthcare provider in Gauteng is seeking a Senior Professional Nurse to enhance client care and ensure safety standards. The role involves mentoring junior staff, coordinating care delivery, and managing resources effectively. Ideal candidates will have a Professional Nurse qualification and at least 3 years of nursing experience in a hospital. This position is on-site and offers a permanent contract.

Job Overview

The Senior Professional Nurse supports the Unit Manager in ensuring a safe and positive client experience by mitigating clinical risks and co‑ordinating care delivery. They further provide direct patient care, as well as mentorship to new and student nurses in the unit.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure comprehensive and safe patient care by mitigating risks and meeting set clinical quality standards
  • Manage the client experience
  • Ensure optimal supply, retention, and utilisation of staffing resources
  • Empower and build staff competence through continuous assessment and development
  • Assist with the effective management of operational expenses (including stock and capital)
Education & Experience
  • Essential Education: Professional Nurse qualification and Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing if managing a specialist unit (e.g. Perioperative Nursing)
  • Desired Education: N/A
  • Essential Experience: Minimum 3 years Professional Nurse experience in a hospital, 1 year mentor experience
  • Desired Experience: N/A
