Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to lead the design, optimization, and implementation of advanced chemical processes in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. The role blends in-office collaboration with targeted remote work, with an emphasis on safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

You will drive process simulations, P&ID development, and risk assessments while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with operations, maintenance, and R&D teams.

Competenze

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive process engineering experience in petrochemical or chemical manufacturing.
• Experience with process simulation software such as Aspen Plus or HYSYS and P&ID development.
• Familiarity with safety studies (HAZOP, LOPA) and risk assessment methodologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in process engineering within the petrochemical or chemical manufacturing industry.
• Proven experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and P&ID development.
• Strong understanding of unit operations, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and reaction kinetics.
• Experience with safety studies (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA) and risk assessment methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
• Project management experience is a plus.
• Professional registration with ECSA is advantageous.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and relevant engineering software.
