Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Process Chemistry or a Master’s with substantial experience.
• Minimum of 7 years in process chemistry and scale-up in pharma or fine chemicals.
• Strong background in synthetic organic chemistry and reaction mechanisms.
• Proficient with process development tools, analytical techniques, and statistics.
• Experience working in a remote team using collaboration platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and optimization of synthetic routes with focus on yield, purity, and scalability.
• Design and execute DoE to understand critical process parameters and ranges.
• Troubleshoot complex issues during development and scale-up activities.
• Develop and validate analytical methods for process monitoring and QC.
• Collaborate with remote R&D chemists, engineers, and manufacturing for tech transfer.
• Author detailed reports, disclosures, and process documentation.

About the Role

Our client is looking for an accomplished Senior Process Development Chemist to join their innovative, remote-first team. This position is critical for advancing our research and development efforts, focusing on the optimization and scale-up of chemical synthesis processes. You will be responsible for designing and executing experimental plans, troubleshooting complex chemical issues, and ensuring that processes are robust, safe, and economically viable for commercial production. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in organic synthesis, process chemistry, and a passion for problem-solving in a virtual collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and optimization of synthetic routes for new chemical compounds, focusing on yield, purity, and scalability.
• Design and execute Design of Experiments (DoE) to understand critical process parameters and establish operating ranges.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex chemical issues encountered during process development and scale-up activities.
• Develop and validate analytical methods to support process monitoring and quality control.
• Collaborate closely with remote R&D chemists, engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful technology transfer.
• Author detailed technical reports, invention disclosures, and process documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Process Chemistry, or a Master's degree with significant relevant experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in process chemistry and scale-up within the pharmaceutical or fine chemical industries.
• Demonstrated expertise in synthetic organic chemistry and reaction mechanisms.
