Job summary

Jobs2day SA is seeking an experienced Operations Manager for its Atlantis plant in Cape Town. This leader will oversee daily manufacturing operations, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery while driving continuous improvement and plant-wide performance.

The role requires an engineer with strong commercial awareness and the ability to coordinate with maintenance, planning and senior management, stepping in for the Plant Manager when needed.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related manufacturing discipline.
• Eight years in manufacturing with operational/production-management responsibility.
• Experience leading teams in high-output, quality-driven environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily manufacturing operations to achieve production, quality, delivery, cost and safety targets.
• Act as operational lead for the plant in the absence of the Plant Manager.
• Drive plant performance through operating rhythms, planning, KPI management and accountability.
• Collaborate with maintenance/engineering to improve equipment uptime and reliability.
• Lead continuous-improvement initiatives focusing on OEE, yield, waste reduction and productivity.
• Manage production and operational teams, ensuring standards and discipline.
• Ensure compliance with quality, health and safety, environmental standards.
