What you get to do:
  • Manage monthly payroll processing across multiple South African legal entities, ensuring accurate and on‑time salary payments, deductions, overtime, and tax submissions
  • Reconcile payroll data with the general ledger, resolve discrepancies, and maintain audit‑ready records
  • Prepare and submit EMP201 and EMP501 returns in full compliance with SARS requirements
  • Collect, validate, and maintain BBBEE evidence packs, support verification audits, and manage certificate validity
  • Support Finance with month‑end close, headcount expense forecasting, and payroll‑related analysis
  • Coordinate employment equity, COIDA, StatsSA, and other regulatory submissions as needed
  • Generate regular and ad‑hoc payroll and headcount reports for leadership, including variance analysis and KPIs
  • Maintain payroll system hygiene and employee data integrity, managing consents and addressing discrepancies
  • Provide documentation and responses for internal and external audits covering both payroll and BBBEE
Requirements:
What it takes to succeed:
  • Deep knowledge of South African payroll legislation, tax, and statutory reporting, with hands‑on experience preparing EMP201/EMP501 and managing multi‑entity payrolls
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for reconciliations, analysis, and reporting; exposure to Payspace and Remote Pass is advantageous
  • Strong grasp of BBBEE administration and verification requirements, including evidence gathering and audit liaison
  • Comfort working cross‑functionally with Finance and HR, balancing compliance rigor with business pragmatism
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills in a fast‑moving, fully remote environment
Education and Experience:
  • Matric required; post‑matric qualification in a relevant field is an advantage
  • 5-6+ years of payroll administration experience, focused on South African systems and compliance
  • 3+ years of BBBEE administration experience
  • Experience with financial analysis, headcount planning, and budgeting
  • Familiarity with Payspace and Remote Pass is beneficial
