Job summary

A leading IT solutions provider in South Africa seeks a Senior Oracle DBA responsible for designing and maintaining Oracle database systems. The role involves database performance optimization, security compliance, and mentoring junior DBAs. Ideal candidates have over 5 years of experience with Oracle databases and strong skills in performance tuning and problem-solving. This position is for a duration of 3 months.

Qualifications

• Matric and a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Oracle DBA.
• Expertise in Oracle 12c/19c architecture, administration, and performance tuning.
• Strong understanding of Oracle Enterprise Manager.
• Experience with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases and Microsoft SQL Server is a plus.
• Certifications such as OCP (Oracle Certified Professional) are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain Oracle databases (including RAC, Data Guard, and ASM).
• Perform database tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Monitor database performance and proactively address issues.
• Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations.
