Job summary

A dynamic technology company in South Africa is seeking a Senior Oracle DBA responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and performance of Oracle database systems. Responsibilities include ensuring high availability, security, and optimal performance, while mentoring junior DBAs. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in IT and a minimum of 5 years' experience as an Oracle DBA. Certification as an OCP is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Oracle DBA.
  • Expertise in Oracle 12c/19c architecture, administration, and performance tuning.
  • Strong understanding of Oracle Enterprise Manager.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
  • Certifications such as OCP (Oracle Certified Professional) are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Oracle databases (including RAC, Data Guard, and ASM).
  • Perform database tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Monitor database performance and proactively address issues.
  • Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations.
  • Ensure compliance with data security standards and regulations.
  • Document database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with developers and infrastructure teams to support application performance.
  • Mentor junior DBAs and provide technical leadership.
