Job description
Overview

Sovereign, a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets with operations in five provinces, is seeking a thorough and committed individual for the position of Senior Occupational Health Nurse for its operations in the Group Services division. The Senior Occupational Health Nurse is responsible for managing the company’s Occupational HealthClinics and provide optimised medical care to employees. This position reports to the Group Executive: HR and holds the TASK Grade T12. The ideal candidate must be a qualified Registered Nurse (B.Cur or Diploma in Nursing) with a Diploma in Occupational Health Nursing. They must also hold certificates in Audiometry and Spirometry, a valid dispensing licence, a driver’s licence, and have at least five years’ experience managing an Occupational Health Clinic. Registration with both SANC and SASOHN is essential. The ability to communicate in isiXhosa will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee Medical Surveillance and Employee Wellness Programmes
  • Manage and optimize clinic resources, supplies and consumables
  • Provide leadership and development to the clinic team
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders across the business
  • Drive compliance to statutory requirements, company policies and procedures
  • Collate data and prepare accurate clinic reports, as required
  • Monitor and control departmental costs
  • Analyze and report on health issues, incidents, accidents and emerging trends
  • Participate in and make recommendations to the Health & Safety Committee and other stakeholders
  • Ensure the clinic is fully equipped and prepared to respond to all foreseeable medical emergencies
