Job summary

MTN Group in South Africa is seeking a Network Security Architect to lead the design and implementation of MTN’s network security architecture across the Eastern Cape region. You will define standards, evaluate threats, and integrate cutting-edge security technologies into the telecom backbone.

The role requires 8+ years in network security, a Bachelor’s in CS or InfoSec, and hands-on experience with Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Fortinet, and SIEM.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in network security architecture.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
• Experience in telecom environments preferred.
• Knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST, and POPIA.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a network security architecture blueprint aligned with MTN objectives.
• Conduct risk assessments, threat modeling, and vulnerability analyses for core network components.
• Design and implement security controls (firewalls, IDS/IPS, zero-trust).
• Collaborate with network engineers, operations, and compliance to integrate security without impacting service quality.
• Lead incident response planning, forensics, and post-incident reviews.
• Stay updated on threats and standards; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide mentorship to junior analysts and engineers.
• Prepare detailed security architecture documents and executive briefs.
