Placements24 is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and manage the network infrastructure in Vereeniging, Gauteng. The role requires delivering high-availability network services, leading upgrade projects, and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Networking, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of network engineering and administration experience.
• Deep knowledge of routing (BGP/OSPF) and switching.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco IOS/NX-OS and Juniper Junos.
• Strong security understanding (VPNs, firewalls, IDS/IPS).
• Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and Nagios.
• Certifications like CCNA/CCNP/JNCIS/JNCIP are desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

About the Role

Our client, a leading telecommunications provider in Vereeniging, is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and manage their complex network infrastructure. This role is critical for ensuring the optimal performance, availability, and security of our client's network services across the region. You will be involved in strategic network planning, troubleshooting advanced issues, and leading network upgrade projects. This position requires your dedicated presence at our facilities in Gauteng.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and deploy enterprise-level network solutions using Cisco and Juniper equipment.


• Manage and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.


• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network problems, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime.


• Develop and implement network security policies and procedures.


• Plan and execute network upgrades and enhancements, including hardware and software installations.


• Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of network infrastructure with other systems.


• Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.


• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior network engineers.

Requirements
