Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-grade LAN / WAN and wireless networks across shore-based and vessel environments.
  • Manage and optimise routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and network monitoring tools.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity and governance frameworks (ISO, ITIL, POPIA).
  • Proactively monitor performance, identify vulnerabilities, and ensure disaster recovery readiness.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to ensure SLA compliance.
  • Lead, guide, and mentor Network Administrators, fostering technical excellence and skills development.
  • Contribute to digital transformation initiatives by introducing innovative and secure network solutions.
Desired Experience & Qualification
  • A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as MCSE, CompTIA Network, CCNA, or Fortinet NSE.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in network design, implementation, and support in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of LAN / WAN architectures, VLANs, TCP/IP, routing, switching, and firewalls.
  • Exposure to virtualisation (VMware / Hyper-V) and cloud networking (Azure / AWS) is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor junior technical team members.
  • This appointment will be made in line with AMSOL's Employment Equity Plan.
