Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Network Administrator for our Upington facility in the Northern Cape. You will oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network hardware and software across routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless access points.

You will monitor performance, enforce security, document configurations, and guide junior IT staff. A Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of enterprise networking experience are required, with CCNA/CCNP desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in network administration and support.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), and network services (DNS, DHCP).
• Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or other enterprise-grade networking equipment.
• Proficiency in configuring and managing firewalls and VPN technologies.
• Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an office environment.
• Relevant networking certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Experience with wireless networking technologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless APs).

About the Role

Our client, a prominent logistics company operating across South Africa, is seeking a seasoned Senior Network Administrator to oversee and manage their critical network infrastructure. This role is based in Upington, Northern Cape, ZA , and is essential for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of the company's network operations.
