Overview

Title: Senior Multimedia Designer

Location: Johannesburg, South Africa

Reporting to: Video Lead

The role will collaborate closely with the Video Lead & Creative Director to develop and execute creative projects across motion and multimedia channels. This role is crucial in producing high-quality and cohesive multimedia work that adheres to brand standards.

The successful candidate will work with a talented team of designers, editors, animators and writers, contributing to a creative environment that emphasizes innovation, craft excellence and impactful visual storytelling.

Responsibilities

CREATIVE COLLABORATION

• Work in partnership with the creative teams to develop and execute creative concepts across motion and multimedia channels.
• Collaborate with designers, copywriters, editors, animators and other team members to ensure cohesive and high-quality deliverables.
• Translate static storyboards into fit-for-platform content.

ART DIRECTION

• Reporting to the Video Lead, translate creative direction into visually striking, brand-consistent motion and multimedia solutions.
• Support the creative teams in developing multimedia assets that align with the client’s and global lead agency’s vision and objectives.

DESIGN EXECUTION

• Produce compelling motion graphics, animation, video content, storyboards and multimedia assets for digital, social and other screen-based channels.
• Ensure all motion and multimedia work is executed on-brand and to the high standards expected by Publicis Production.

VIDEO PRODUCTION & EDITING

• Collaborate with the Video Lead and creative teams to develop engaging video content for digital, social, retail and other screen-based platforms.
• Edit and assemble video content, ensuring strong storytelling, pacing, visual consistency and alignment with campaign objectives.
• Create platform-specific video adaptations, cutdowns, versioning and localizations across multiple formats and aspect ratios.
• Enhance video content through motion graphics, animation, sound design, visual effects and post-production techniques where required.
• Support the execution of video shoots, including pre-production planning, on-set creative support and post-production delivery where applicable.
• Ensure all video assets meet technical specifications, quality standards, brand guidelines and channel requirements.
• Manage video project files, footage, assets and delivery workflows in accordance with studio processes and best practices.
• Explore and implement emerging video, AI-assisted production and content creation technologies to improve efficiency, quality and creative output.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

• Self-manage multiple motion, video and multimedia projects, timelines and priorities efficiently.
• Liaise with the creative teams to present multimedia solutions, gather feedback and make necessary adjustments on projects.

INNOVATION AND TRENDS

• Stay up to date with motion design, animation, video and multimedia trends, incorporating new techniques and ideas into projects.
• Contribute to a culture of creativity, collaboration and innovation within the team.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

• Review, receive and implement feedback from the Art Director and Video Lead on projects to maintain quality, consistency and technical accuracy.
• Ensure final multimedia and video products meet client expectations, brand standards and channel specifications.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a senior multimedia designer, motion designer or similar role within an advertising agency or creative environment.
• Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in motion graphics, animation, video, digital, social and multimedia design.
• Excellent motion design, visual storytelling, communication and collaborative skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop and Illustrator, with experience in relevant animation and multimedia tools.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, formats and delivery requirements simultaneously.
• Passion for innovation, craft excellence and staying current with motion and multimedia trends.
