Job summary

ESG Recruitment seeks an experienced Workshop Manager to oversee the safe, efficient day‑to‑day operation of a steel fabrication workshop serving the mining and mobile underground mining equipment industry.

The role requires at least 5 years' experience in steel fabrication workshop management, strong leadership, planning and problem‑solving skills, and a proven track record in quality assurance and safety compliance. You will lead a skilled team to meet production, quality and delivery targets.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years’ experience managing a steel fabrication workshop.
  • Experience in mining mobile equipment manufacturing: welding, boilermaking, CNC machining, fitting, assembly.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics and components used in mobile underground mining equipment.
  • Excellent planning, organisational and leadership abilities.
  • Strong communication and ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the safe and efficient day‑to‑day running of the production workshop.
  • Ensure all quality assurance and quality control processes are followed.
  • Coordinate production activities and oversee department heads to meet customer delivery deadlines.
  • Enforce workshop workflow structures, processes and procedures across all departments.
  • Ensure plant and equipment are properly maintained and available for production.
  • Participate in technical problem‑solving, investigations and development activities.
  • Ensure all workshop health and safety procedures and protocols are adhered to.
  • Maintain high‑quality workmanship through incoming and outgoing inspections of parts and assemblies.
  • Lead and motivate workshop teams to achieve production, quality and delivery targets.
