Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to oversee surface operations in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, leveraging advanced technology to improve safety, efficiency and sustainability in the mining division.

You will lead planning, optimize schedules, and mentor engineers and geologists while ensuring regulatory compliance. A PE registration and a strong track record in surface mining are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive surface mining experience and project management.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MineScape and Leapfrog.
• PR. Eng. registration with ECSA or eligibility.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement mine planning and design for surface operations.
• Optimize extraction methods, schedules, and resource allocation.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure safety, environmental regulations, and standards.
• Lead and mentor a team of mining engineers, geologists, and staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.

• Strong knowledge of mining equipment, software (e.g., AutoCAD, MineScape, Leapfrog), and geological principles.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA or eligibility for registration.
