Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed underground surveys, including face pick-ups, development surveys, and stope surveys.
• Establish and maintain underground control networks for surveying purposes.
• Perform volumetric calculations for ore and waste material.
• Utilize advanced surveying instruments such as total stations, theodolites, and laser scanners underground.
• Process and interpret survey data using specialized mining software (e.g., Surpac, Minex, AutoCAD).
• Ensure compliance with all legal requirements and mining regulations related to mine surveying.
• Collaborate with mine planners and geologists to provide accurate spatial data for planning and resource modeling.
• Monitor and report on the progress of underground development and production.
• Maintain survey equipment and ensure its calibration and proper functioning.
• Assist in the preparation of survey plans and reports for management and regulatory bodies.

Requirements

• National Diploma or B.Tech in Mine Surveying or Geomatics.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience specifically in underground mine surveying.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining underground surveying equipment.
• Strong skills in mining survey software packages.
• Solid understanding of geodetic principles and mine layout practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Must be physically fit and able to work safely in an underground mining environment in **Soweto**.
• Registration with SAGC or equivalent is preferred.
