Job summary

Department of Health is seeking an Operational Manager- Specialty (Advanced Midwifery) to supervise nursing care in the Edenvale Regional Hospital’s obstetric unit. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, ensure high standards of patient care, and drive initiatives to improve perinatal outcomes.

The role requires extensive clinical leadership, postgraduate midwifery credentials, and formal management training, with eligibility for SANC registration and weekend/public holiday flexibility.

Qualifications

• Mandatory nursing registration with SANC as Professional Nurse and Midwife.
• Post basic qualification in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science.
• Experience as a nurse after SANC registration with nine or more years.
• Experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology department after Advanced Midwifery qualification.

Responsibilities

• - Supervise and evaluate nursing care quality within professional scope and guidelines.
• - Ensure nursing practice complies with legislation, ethics, and standards.
• - Implement obstetric priority programs to reduce mortality and morbidity.
• - Manage unit resources, HR and financial policies; work with multidisciplinary teams.
• - Maintain data and reporting aligned with planning documents; participate in training and research.
