Overview

Hire Resolve's client in the petrochemical industry is urgently seeking the expertise of a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Cape Town.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for mechanical engineering design in the field of petrochemical projects.
  • Perform mechanical engineering calculations, designs, drawings, and solutions to engineering problems.
  • Prepare reports, liaise with clients, and possess construction knowledge and commissioning abilities.
  • Potential to lead as the head mechanical engineer and supervise junior staff members.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of piping and pumping systems.
  • Competence in designing mechanical systems with knowledge of hydraulics.
  • Experienced in preparing conceptual and detailed designs including drawings, calculations, project schedules, cost estimates, and datasheets.
  • Familiarity with the tender processes related to mechanical projects.
  • Construction experience regarding the installation of mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable mechanical engineering codes such as ASME, API, SANS, etc.
  • Ability to travel to site for inspections, kick-off meetings, and progress meetings.
  • Proficient in client liaison concerning mechanical designs.
  • Experience in commissioning mechanical systems and mentoring junior staff.
  • Previous experience in the Oil & Gas / Petrochemical Industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with NFPA and firefighting systems is advantageous.
