Job description

The Employee shall perform all Mechanical Engineering related functions and responsibilities including supervision of other Contractors for the full duration of working hours. If necessary, hours outside the normal working hours shall be worked as directed by his superiors.

The prime responsibilities of the Senior Mechanical Engineer will be :

  • Performance of general quality control duties for the Project Team.
  • Control, co-ordinate and execute inputs to the quality assurance programme of the project.
  • Execute relevant design functions and calculations in accordance with the relevant code of practices for the specific requirements.
  • Compile specifications and scopes of work.
  • Co-ordinate and control all relevant technical information and drawings proactively, redlining and marking of changes and amendments to technical information and forwarding of relevant information to the Engineer or Client.
  • Inspect fabrication work regularly to evaluate and verify state of progress of project as a whole and of each contract, in conjunction with the responsible Project Manager.
  • Monitor, control of quality data into Quality Assurance Programme.
  • Co-ordinate, liaise and organize relevant on site installation, testing and commissioning with Project Manager and Construction Manager.
  • Produce regular updated progress reports.
  • Oversee and control all required installation testing and commissioning functions to the project when required.
  • Perform general Project Management functions for the Project Team and Project manager.
  • Pro-actively participate in Safety Management in line with OHS Act requirements.
  • Adherence to the organizations HSEQ Business Management System.
  • Materials handling design.
  • Pipeline design.
  • Tank design or evaluation.
  • Strength analysis / Finite Element Analysis.
  • Thermal analysis.
  • Rehabilitation of aging infrastructure.
  • New infrastructure design.
  • Modifications to existing infrastructure.
  • Working on multidisciplinary projects in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Compilation of design reports.
  • Compilation of investigation reports.
  • Liaison with clients.
  • Liaison with suppliers and external service providers.
  • Interpreting client needs and making proposals to clients verbally and written.
  • Compilation of / assistance with tender submissions.
  • CAD modelling and drafting as required.
  • Generation of Bills of Quantities, Scopes of Works and Specifications.
  • Project close-out.
