Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mathematics Tutor in Johannesburg to support students in grades 8–12. The role focuses on improving comprehension and performance in mathematics through individualized and small-group sessions, using CAPS-aligned methods.

The candidate should have a Mathematics-related degree, a postgraduate Education qualification, and at least 5 years of high school tutoring experience, with strong communication and relevant technology skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Postgraduate qualification in Education desirable.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience teaching or tutoring mathematics to high school students (Grades 8–12).
• Strong knowledge of CAPS mathematics curriculum.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Experience with hybrid or blended teaching approaches.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group tutoring in mathematics across grades 8–12 (algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics).
• Develop customized lesson plans and study materials.
• Assess progress via diagnostics, assignments and feedback to students/parents.
• Collaborate with teachers and school administrators to align tutoring with classroom objectives.
• Facilitate engaging learning experiences to promote critical thinking.
