Competenze

• Master's degree or PhD in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• 7+ years of industrial materials engineering experience.
• Proven expertise in material selection, characterization techniques, and failure analysis.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the mining and minerals processing industry, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Materials Engineer to join their innovative research and development division located in Rustenburg. This role is pivotal in enhancing the performance, durability, and efficiency of equipment and processes through expert material selection, analysis, and application. You will be at the forefront of material science, investigating novel materials, troubleshooting material-related failures, and developing solutions to improve operational longevity and reduce maintenance costs. Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in materials engineering, with a significant focus on industrial applications.
• Proven expertise in material selection, characterization techniques (e.g., SEM, XRD, metallography), and failure analysis.
• Strong understanding of metallurgy, polymers, ceramics, and composite materials.
• Experience with corrosion, wear, and fatigue mechanisms in demanding environments.
• Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Familiarity with the mining and minerals processing industry is a strong advantage.
• Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Rustenburg.
