Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Achieve and maintain unqualified audit opinions.
  • Develop and implement the Finance and Supply Chain Management strategy.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of financial and supply chain management reports.
  • Oversee internal and external audit processes.
  • Manage the acquisition, recording, logistics, and disposal of assets.
  • Develop, review, and manage the annual budget and APP budgetary input.
  • Implement the procurement plan in support of organisational objectives.
  • Oversee payroll and related financial functions.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Provide strategic financial advice to executive leadership.
  • Manage, mentor, and guide staff.

Our client is a statutory public entity and oversight body within the education and training sector, mandated to develop, foster, and maintain an integrated and transparent national framework for the recognition of learning achievements.

Purpose of the Role

The Senior Manager: Finance & Supply Chain Management will provide strategic oversight and leadership in Finance and Supply Chain Management, in line with the PFMA and National Treasury requirements. The incumbent will also be responsible for ensuring unqualified audit outcomes. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer & Corporate Services Executive, this role will be accountable for the budget, finance, and procurement processes that support the organisation’s Annual Performance Plan (APP) and financial objectives.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A recognised qualification at NQF Level 8.
  • A relevant NQF Level 9 qualification will be an advantage.
  • Professional accounting certification with a recognised body will be an added advantage.
Minimum Experience
  • At least 8 years of relevant work experience, with 5 years in a management role.
  • Proven experience with PFMA, Income Tax Act, VAT Act, and National Treasury regulations.
  • Experience within the education or public sector will be an advantage.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
  • Accounting and payroll software packages (including CaseWare).
  • Knowledge of GRAP standards.
  • Strategic leadership and financial management skills.
  • Strong business acumen, attention to detail, and sound judgement.
  • Excellent stakeholder relations and people management capabilities.
  • In-depth understanding of the education sector’s legislative and regulatory environment.
  • Transformational leadership with the ability to influence and drive change.
