Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Senior Maintenance Technician for our manufacturing client in Rustenburg. The role focuses on ensuring optimal performance and longevity of plant machinery, diagnosing and repairing complex issues, and contributing to production efficiency.

This hands-on position requires strong technical aptitude, experience with electrical and mechanical systems, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial/manufacturing maintenance.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with fault-finding skills.
• Welding, fabrication and machining experience is desirable.
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
• Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on production machinery.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Read blueprints, schematics, and manuals for repairs and installations.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and parts used.
• Respond to emergency repair calls to minimize production disruption.
• Mentor junior technicians and share best practices.

About the Role

This role is crucial for ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of all plant machinery and equipment. You will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical and electrical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the production line. This is a hands-on position requiring a strong technical aptitude and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform complex diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on production machinery.
• Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure operational reliability.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to perform repairs and installations.
• Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, including parts used and labor hours.
• Respond promptly to emergency repair calls and ensure minimal disruption to production schedules.
• Mentor and guide junior technicians, sharing expertise and best practices in maintenance procedures.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with a proven ability to troubleshoot complex machinery.
• Experience with welding, fabrication, and machining is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and predictive maintenance techniques.
• Relevant trade certification or equivalent experience is preferred.
