Qualifications

• Master's degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics network design, optimization, or a similar analytical role.
• Proficiency in network optimization software (e.g., Llamasoft, AnyLogic, CPLEX) and data visualization tools.
• Strong understanding of transportation modes, warehousing operations, and inventory management principles within the Western Cape, ZA context.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Experience with database management (SQL) and statistical analysis.
• Familiarity with the South African logistics landscape is a significant advantage.
• Experience in e-commerce or retail logistics is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing logistics networks to identify opportunities for improvement in transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
• Develop optimization models and strategies to reduce costs, improve delivery times, and enhance customer satisfaction.
• Utilize network simulation and route optimization tools to model scenarios and evaluate potential network changes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement network enhancements.
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed network changes and investments.
• Monitor KPIs for the logistics network and report on performance trends.
• Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and innovative solutions in logistics network design.
• Develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions and ensure business continuity.
• Manage relationships with external consultants and technology providers involved in network optimization projects.
• Train and mentor junior analysts on network modeling and optimization techniques.
