Job summary

Nelson Mandela University in South Africa seeks a Doctorate-qualified academic to design, develop and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Information Technology / Computing Sciences. The postholder will contribute to research, supervise postgraduate students and participate in academic administration.

The successful candidate will possess a PhD in IT/Computing, a minimum of four years of relevant academic experience, and a track record in postgraduate supervision.

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree in Information Technology / Computing Sciences.
• At least 4 years relevant academic experience in which competency has been gained.
• Experience in various Software Development environments including in the .Net environment.
• Evidence of a research portfolio including accredited output (papers in journals and conference proceedings).
• Track record of successfully completed postgraduate supervision.
• Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence including software, hardware and human aspects is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate teaching and learning at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
• Contribute to knowledge creation via postgraduate studies, research and innovation, publications and supervision.
• Perform academic administration.
• Participate in projects targeted at community service and engagement.
• Incorporate learning trends to ensure a student-centred experience.
• Maintain up-to-date learning material by integrating latest IT trends.
• Ensure modules comply with quality requirements.
