Responsibilities
  • Ukuhlohla abafundi abaqeqeshelwa ubutitshala kwisiGaba esiPhezulu, ukusuka kunyaka wokuqala ukuya kowesine kwisiDanga soButitshala nePGCE;
  • Ukufunda nokufundisa isiXhosa kubafundi abaqeqeshelwa ubutitshala, kwisiDanga esiphezulu, ulwimi lweenkobe, nelokuqala elongezelelweyo;
  • Ukuyila nokuphonononga okanye ukuhlaziya ikharityhulam okanye izikhokhelo zeemodyuli zoqeqesho lootitshala kwiMfundo yesiXhosa/iKharityhulam ebandakanya ukufundisa isiXhosa njengolwimi lonxibelelwano ukulungiselela ukusebenza kwizikolo zaseMzantsi Afrika nangaphaya ukuba kuyenzeka;
  • Khokela abafundi abasele beneziDanga zobutitshala ugxile kwimfundo yolwimi, kwisiGaba esiPhezulu kunye nePGCE ubancedisa kwiiprojekthi zabo zophando lwezemfundo;

  • Thatha inxaxheba kwimicimbi yeSebe ngokuhambelana nesigaba sengqesho, oku kubandakanya ukuba kwiikomiti neenkqubo zeSebe, ukukhokela iimodyuli, ukusebenza kwimicimbi yokulawula kwiimodyuli nayo yonke imiba ebalulekileyo eza kukhulisa ukufunda nokufundiswa kwesiXhosa kwiSebe.
  • Teaching Senior Phase isiXhosa Language Education and Literacy from first to fourth year level in the Bachelor of Education (BEd) undergraduate and PGCE programmes.
  • Teaching and learning isiXhosa as a Home Language and First Additional language to preservice teachers both in the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
  • Designing and reviewing or revising curricula or module guides for teacher training in isiXhosa Education/Curriculum Studies that includes isiXhosa for communicative purposes in preparation for service in South African schools and even beyond where possible.
  • Mentoring postgraduate students in the Bachelor of Education (BEd) honours programme specialising in Senior Phase and PGCE language education with their respective academic research projects.
  • Promoting or co-promoting students in their master's and doctoral research.
  • Teaching or co-teaching at least one isiXhosa-related semester module in the BEd honours programme.
  • Publishing research in reputable academic and peer-reviewed journals.
  • Actively participating in departmental activities relevant to this post level, such as being a committee member of relevant programmes, module coordination, taking up administrative responsibilities relevant to the module, giving presentations during departmental key functions such as orientation sessions, open day, etc.

  • Ubuncikane isidanga sobutitshala kwisiGaba esiPhezulu okanye iPGCE isiXhosa silulwimi olufundiweyo;
  • Amava njengomhlohli kwiziko lemfundo ephakamileyo;
  • Amava okwakho nokuphuhlisa ikharityhulam kwisidanga sokuqala, ingakumbi isiXhosa kunye nesidanga esiphezulu ekufundisweni kwesiXhosa;
  • Amava okukhankathela abafundi kwiinkqubo zokufunda nokufundiswa kwesiXhosa okanye iilwimi zaseAfrika kubafundi beeHonours.
  • Izakhono ezihle, ezifanelekileyo ekusebenzisaneni, ukunxibelelana nabantu kwa nokuzibandakanya kwimisebenzi yeSebe;
  • Inqanaba eliphezulu lokufunda nokufundisa isiXhosa, kuquka izakhi nemigaqo yokusetyenziswa kolwimi.
  • PhD in Language Education.
  • A minimum qualification in either Senior Phase teaching or PGCE majoring in isiXhosa education.
  • Experience in curriculum design at both undergraduate levels, specifically for isiXhosa, and at postgraduate level, for isiXhosa Education.
  • Relevant experience in school and higher education training.
  • Experience of supervision in programmes in teaching and learning of isiXhosa or African languages at postgraduate level, including experience in successful supervision of several honours.
  • Good administrative, interpersonal, and communication skills, and being prepared to be involved in departmental activities.
  • An advanced level of isiXhosa education, including language structures and conventions of isiXhosa.

  • Demonstrated experience of teaching and learning and research in isiXhosa Education.
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum design and development in isiXhosa Education and isiXhosa for communicative purposes.
  • Demonstrated understanding of practical learning for preservice teachers.
