Placements24 is seeking a Senior Insurance Actuary in Polokwane, Limpopo, to lead complex actuarial modeling, pricing, reserving, and risk management across insurance lines. You will provide strategic insights to support financial planning and decision-making.

The role requires international designation, deep actuarial expertise, and strong communication skills, with a hybrid work arrangement offering office presence and remote flexibility in the South Africa market.

Qualifications

• Fellow of the Actuarial Society of SA (FASSA) or equivalent international designation.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in insurance actuarial field.
• Expertise in life, non-life, or health insurance actuarial practices.
• Proficiency in Prophet/AXIS and programming languages (R, Python, SQL).
• Strong analytical, mathematical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain actuarial models for pricing and reserving.
• Analyze data to assess risk and determine premiums and reserves.
• Perform financial condition testing and solvency assessments.
• Advise on product development, pricing strategies, and risk management.
• Collaborate with underwriters, finance, and management for strategic decisions.
• Mentor junior actuaries and actuarial students.
