About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Industrial Engineer with expertise in facility design and layout optimization to join their fully remote engineering team. This role is pivotal in conceptualizing, designing, and implementing efficient and scalable facility layouts for new and existing operations. You will leverage advanced simulation and modeling techniques to create optimal workflows, material handling systems, and workspace configurations, all from your home office. This position requires a strategic mindset, strong leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of industrial engineering principles applied to physical infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully designing complex industrial facilities and driving significant operational improvements through effective layout strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and redesign of industrial facilities, including plant layouts, warehouse configurations, and workstation setups. Utilize CAD software and simulation tools to develop and test facility designs and material flow strategies. Analyze operational requirements and constraints to develop optimal facility plans. Collaborate virtually with cross-functional teams, including operations, safety, and management, to ensure designs meet all requirements. Develop detailed project plans, specifications, and cost estimates for facility projects. Oversee the implementation phase of facility designs, providing guidance and resolving issues. Conduct site analysis and assessments to identify opportunities for layout improvements. Ensure designs comply with all relevant safety, environmental, and ergonomic standards. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical expertise in facility design principles. Present design proposals and project updates to stakeholders.

Requirements

Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field. A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in industrial engineering, with a significant focus on facility design, layout, and simulation. Expert proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and simulation tools (e.g., Arena, FlexSim). Deep understanding of lean manufacturing principles, material handling systems, and ergonomics. Proven ability to manage complex projects from concept to completion. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills. Strong leadership and team collaboration abilities, particularly in a remote work setting. Exceptional communication and presentation skills. Experience with building information modeling (BIM) is a plus. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently in a remote environment.
