Job summary

A local government organization in Kununurra is seeking a Senior HR Business Partner to enhance workforce engagement and support leaders on HR matters. Ideal candidates will have a degree in human resources and a minimum of 3 years' experience in HR roles, alongside strong communication skills. The Opportunity

Position Purpose

The Senior HR Business Partner will partner with leaders and team members across the Shire and provide leaders with proactive and responsive coaching and advice on all people matters, including the interpretation and application of employment conditions, policies, organisational directives and procedures.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications required for the role
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in the same or similar role;
  • Excellent people engagement and communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation, contributing to a positive work environment with a strong focus on provision of quality customer service;
  • Excellent time management skills to achieve proficiency and effectiveness in managing conflicting priorities and meeting deadlines;
  • Sound knowledge of contemporary Human Resource management issues at both broad and specific levels particularly relating to enterprise bargaining, industrial relations, employee relations, equal employment opportunity and workplace health and safety;
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret industrial awards and agreements, legislation, policies and procedures to provide clear and accurate advice and support to managers, supervisors and employees;
  • Excellent computer literacy with high attention to detail and ability to prepare documentation in line with relevant situational requirements;
  • Demonstrated analytical, research and problem-solving skills, including the ability to summarise complex issues, identify trends and emerging issues and develop recommendations and options for consideration and resolution;
  • Demonstrated experience in handling complex and confidential workforce matters and completing internal workforce investigations;

Demonstrated high level of business acumen and deep understanding of workforce planning and core drivers of business.

Qualifications, Memberships and Licences
  • Degree level qualification in human resources, organisation behaviour, employment law or other relevant field;
  • An acceptable National Police Clearance (dated within the last 6 months);
Knowledge or experience using HRIS and payroll systems

Previous experience in Local Government;

Cert IV Training and Assessment.

Remuneration Package and Location

The role will be based from the Shire offices in Kununurra however may be negotiated.

This is a full time role with a remuneration package up to $,, (including Superannuation and leave loading on 6 weeks annual leave)

  • 6 weeks annual leave + leave loading
  • 5% superannuation with the option to co-contribute a further 3%
