About the Role

Our client, a distinguished architectural firm with a specialized focus on heritage conservation and adaptive reuse projects, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Heritage Architect to join their practice in Polokwane, Limpopo . This vital role involves leading projects that sensitively restore, conserve, and reimagine historical buildings and sites, ensuring their cultural significance is preserved for future generations. The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of heritage architecture principles, conservation techniques, and relevant South African heritage legislation. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design and conservation planning for heritage sites and buildings.
• Conduct detailed heritage assessments, condition surveys, and historical research for existing structures.
• Develop conservation strategies, repair methodologies, and adaptive reuse proposals for heritage assets.
• Prepare high-quality heritage reports, conservation management plans, and design documentation.
• Collaborate closely with heritage authorities (e.g., SAHRA), conservation specialists, engineers, and clients throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure all designs and interventions comply with national heritage legislation, guidelines, and best practices.
• Manage project timelines and budgets, coordinating multidisciplinary teams involved in heritage projects.
• Mentor junior architects and conservation specialists, sharing expertise in heritage architecture.
• Liaise with stakeholders, including government bodies, communities, and property owners, on heritage-related matters.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Architecture with a specialization in Heritage Conservation or a related field.
