Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa seeks a dedicated Geotechnical Engineer to join the Tembisa team. You will plan and oversee site investigations, analyze soil and groundwater properties, and deliver clear reports to guide foundation design.

You will interpret CPT and SPT data, advise on slope stability and earthworks, and collaborate with design teams and clients. The role offers excellent growth in a practice committed to safe, sustainable urban development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Professional registration with ECSA as Pr. Eng or eligible.
  • Minimum 6 years of geotechnical experience focusing on site investigations.
  • Experience interpreting CPT and SPT data.
  • Familiar with geotechnical software for analysis (PLAXIS, GeoStudio).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise geotechnical investigations including boreholes and trial pits.
  • Analyze soil, rock, and groundwater data to determine properties and hazards.
  • Prepare geotechnical reports with foundation, slope stability, and earthworks recommendations.
  • Provide guidance to design teams on geotechnical aspects.
  • Ensure fieldwork and reporting follow SANS and industry best practices.
  • Liaise with clients and consultants to communicate findings.
